Services

The GALCIT Shop is available to design and fabricate mechanical models, instrumentation, and maintenance parts for instruction and research facilities at Caltech. We have the ability to work from your pencil drawings, blueprints, or CAD files. We provide CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) machining services using Virtual Gibbs and SurfCAM to generate mill and lathe programs. We can transform a rough concept into a functioning reality.

We also provide consulting services and can assist in finding outside shops when your needs exceed our capabilities or that of other campus shops.

The shop rate as of October 1, 2012 is $61 per hour.
