Abstract-
Using data obtained from PIV and PLIF of CH, this talk discusses the axial velocity of the flame surface in turbulent jet diffusion flames, the strain rates, the dilatation and the residence times. The importance of the stoichiometric velocity, even in turbulent flows, is shown and a simple physical interpretation is provided. The extension to jets in crossflow at various injection angles is also discussed highlighting the differences with jets in coflow.
