Research
-Development and applications of numerical methods to fluid mechanics,
Interests:
transport phenomena, reaction engineering and materials processing.
-Modeling of nonequilibrium thermodynamics and simulation of complex systems (turbulent flows, viscoelastic flows--i.e. polymer solutions and melts, flow-induced crystallization in fiber spinning, free surface flows with surfactants, composite materials processing).
-Use of parallel computer architectures in high performance computing.
Education:
-Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, September 1985. Thesis under Professors R.C. Armstrong and R.A. Brown on "Calculations of a Viscoelastic Flow in a Journal Bearing." Minor in Mathematics.
-National Technical University of Athens, Athens, Greece, Diploma of Chemical Engineer, June 1980. B.S. thesis under Professor C. Sandris on "Synthesis of 1,2,4 Benzyl-pyrrolidine-dione."
